Welcome to the Free Flight School as Air, a paragliding school recognized by the Canadian Free Flight Association (ACVL), where paragliding training is provided in the form of tandem flight, discovery day (initiation paragliding) and complete pilot training.

The Libre comme l’air flight school is located in Baie St-Paul, in the very heart of the magnificent Charlevoix region. This region, more than any other, lends itself perfectly to the discovery and learning of paragliding thanks to the variety and beauty of its flight sites. Our activities are offered year round.

Every year, many people come from far away for training or for a tandem flight. The question arises: why come to us?

Environmental issue …

Charlevoix, a world biosphere reserve, is undoubtedly the jewel of Quebec. The region is full of breathtaking mountain scenery. It is in this environment that you will experience free flight. Even if you only stay for one day, you will feel like you are on vacation. Relaxation and change of scenery guaranteed! If the weather is too capricious for paragliding, you won’t have made the trip for nothing. There is no shortage of outdoor activities and places to visit.

A question of atmosphere …

If there is one idea that sums up the spirit that animates the Free as Air School, it’s that we want to give you “serious pleasure”! We attach great importance to ensuring that your stay, whatever its duration, is marked by pleasure, relaxation, discovery and human relations. Your experience will leave memories with you that you will not soon forget.

A question of quality …

All of the work we do comes together under one banner: the passion for flying and teaching.

We do not use superlatives or flashy advertising. We do not overload the appointment book under the pretext that the activity is seasonal. On the contrary, we remain close to the “small is beautifull” philosophy; we want to keep an artisanal character which means that our customers benefit from a privileged and more personalized treatment.

Our equipment is recent, safe and revised from time to time.

There is no doubt that a majority of people don’t know that this type of insurance exists. Pilots or passengers who spend a lot of time in the air are aware of the necessity of taking the aviation insurance. This insurance protects you to ensure you don’t end up with all manner of debt and difficulty in case of an accident or some other problem.

It only makes sense to equip yourself with all the protection that you can get considering the fact that a mishap in the air is far more devastating than any mishap that could ever occur on the ground. In order to prevent becoming liable for any type of problems that might occur once you are underway, you will need an aviation insurance.

Aviation insurance can make all the difference in the world especially if you add the extra layer of security. The focus on avoiding an accident should naturally be paramount. However, a recipe for disaster is leaving yourself at the mercy of legislature and regulators in the absence of a cover. Attorneys would waste no time taking you to the cleaners if some an accident occurred. This means that it is critical that you are covered to the best of your ability.

In the absence of aviation insurance, you will be left liable for all manner of damages that occur in the aviation industry, even damages that you were not aware of. It goes without saying that you may also be exposed to liabilities that you are responsible for. So how do you expect to handle them if you don’t have an insurance cover? The good thing is that there is a wide range of options you can choose from to help you have a peace of mind in case you cause damage.

Although aviation insurance is not a common type of insurance, you may not be sure of what it entails and how to claim it, however, everything has been simplified by aviation companies offering it. You can always seek advice from an agent and make sure you get the cover that suits your needs.

You can include your family or loved ones in the cover if you work in the aviation filed. Such a cover protects your family should anything happen to you in the line of duty. You need an aviation insurance because it’s the only way to show that you care for the future. Consider the different quotes from different companies and pick one that suits your needs

The tandem flight does not require any experience on the part of the passenger. It is carried out with a two-seater paraglider, therefore of a larger surface. The few instructions necessary for a safe take-off are given by the instructor pilot before take-off.

During the flight, the passenger is placed in front of and a little below the pilot, so as not to obstruct his vision. In this way, the passenger has plenty of time to admire the panorama that is offered to him.

In addition, the seated position during the flight allows you to enjoy the experience in comfort.

The entire flight is taken care of by the instructor pilot. Nevertheless, if the conditions allow it, the passenger can also experiment a little the piloting of the paraglider under the supervision of the pilot. Don’t worry, this is completely optional and according to your wishes!

The duration of the flight depends on the conditions at the time. As we do not fly with motorized devices, only the presence of lift can allow us to extend the duration of the flight. The average flight time is usually 15 to 20 minutes.

This activity is accessible to everyone, regardless of age and does not require special physical condition, as long as you are able to take the few steps necessary for take-off. However, if you are under the age of sixteen, parental consent is required.

Tandem flight is the ideal activity for those who want to experience the sensations of free flight at least once, without investing in training.

A day of discovery of paragliding is like the start of a course. We first learn how a paraglider is made and how it works. Then, in the breeze of the morning, we make our first weapons under the wing: We learn to inflate (bring the wing on its head), then to control the wing. Don’t worry, these first exercises are done safely on level ground. No question of going downhill right away!

Once you have understood the control on flat ground, you move on to the school slope. We then learn take-off. The school slope is marvelous in that it allows small flights to be carried out while always remaining close to the ground, and therefore in safety. The flights are obviously short, but sufficient to give a good taste of the sensations of paragliding flight.

The discovery day is the best way to get a taste of paragliding and to check your affinities for this sport while incurring little expense.
